I believe celebrating is key to a happy and beautiful life. I never imagined a moment when coming together in celebration would hold so many fears and so much anxiety. This year has been filled with very little celebrating compared to years gone by, but the thing I have learned in the past few months is that celebrating can come in many shapes and forms. In the weeks and months of isolation that we have all endured, I have reconnected with the joy and beauty that comes from remembering to celebrate the smallest details and moments in life.
Sometimes that is simply embracing the beauty of setting a table for one or two. There is luxury and joy in cooking a delicious meal at home and taking the time to set a lovely table. Taking a walk in the morning hours with quiet streets and ending that walk with a coffee and a conversation with a friend is also a little celebration. Finding time for these small moments can only lead us to a greater appreciation for the power and emotion that comes from larger shared celebrations.
As we move forward I’m certain we will navigate the world with a new perspective and appreciation for time spent together. There are so many moments that are simply taken for granted. I’m grateful for the lessons learned this year on being present and appreciating friends, celebrations and invitations to savor the details that make life extra beautiful.
Please stay safe and well and thank you for taking time to enjoy our second issue of Invited Journal.
With Love and Gratitude, Matthew
